Knuckle surgery

Last Wednesday, a week now, I had an operation on my right ring finger. Arthritis had caused the problem in the joint where there was bone to bone, the finger had become bent and swollen and was always very painful. Shaking hands was so painful for me. The hand surgeon said he had to use his smallest tools on my very small bones and trim them, he removed all the arthritis and gave me an silicone implant in my finger joint. It has been a bit painful but I think I am on the mend now. The hand gets very tired and aches toward the end of the day. You can see from the photos the swelling and bruising 3-4 days post-op. So glad this part is over. The spot in my hand is not dirt- that is bruising. I will still have the bent finger and won't be able to wear a ring again but the pain will be gone. I go back to the doc in two days- the swelling has come way down almost normal now. I am so thankful.

My sweet Penny! I am so grateful that you are on the mend. How awful for you to have to endure. I do have a solution to the ring problem! I have come across some wonderful rings....they are totally flexable and you don't even know you have them on! They are stretch rings and sooo pretty. I seldom wear a ring on my right hand, I have a ton of rings but...fingers also gain weight when the rest of you does! So glad you are feeling better. hugs...lu
